„Teacher, I Learned Lessons of Life and Liberty from You!“ Statement from Mothers of Park Laleh for Teacher’s Day
The Mothers of Park Laleh issued an important statement on the occasion of Teacher’s Day this year. We disseminate the translation along with the original here. We will forward their statement to Education International, a teachers‘ union representing more than 30 million teachers worldwide that has supported Iranian teachers like Farzad Kamangar, along with our request to continue their support for teachers in Iran who continue to demand their rights despite ruthless state oppression and unjust working conditions.
„The teachers, despite all the challenges, continuously try to educate the children of this country, but prison, rope, exile and sacking is their reward. They are not allowed to freely express their ideas.”
The Vocational Organization of Kurdistan Teachers (as reported in Rudaw)
„A New Picture of Human Rights in Greece…“: Iranian & Other Refugees Attacked and Beaten by Racist Greek Gangs
This post is comprised of a translation of an interview with a group of Iranian refugees in Greece, two of whom were viciously beaten by racist Greek gangs. Thus far, no action has been taken by the Greek authorities or by UNHCR in response to these brutal beatings in which thugs were armed with metal and wooden batons, as well as brass knuckles, for the sole purpose of attacking refugees. At this point in time, one 21-year-old migrant from Bangladesh has been reported as being stabbed to death by the same group of thugs. Mission Free Iran condemns in the strongest possible terms these racist, fascist attacks on refugees, as well as the criminal non-response by the Greek authorities. We urge activists worldwide to join in organized action against these murderous politics.
